The goal is to move from fragmented, underfunded efforts to a connected, self-sustaining ecosystem.

UGHE Session: Laying the Foundation: Needs Identification and Risk Management in Product Development

Structured process to maximize impact and de-risk solutions. This will be led by the East Africa Biodesign (UGHE) with Stanford University

  1. Introduce participants to the Biodesign framework, focusing on needs finding and needs criteria.

  2. Guide teams to map out patient-centered impact metrics and identify key risks for their MedTech concepts.

  3. Enable participants to create a practical risk-impact roadmap and take-home toolkit for their ventures

Financial Management in MedTech Product Development

Four working groups will be created.

Objectives

  • Enhance financial literacy among MedTech Innovators

  • Provide tools and frameworks for budget planning, fund allocation and reporting

  • Share lessons from startups founders on financial management successes and failures

  • Prepare innovators to align financial strategy with product development milestones

Burn rates and Budgeting: what founders often get wrong (40 minutes)

  • To be held as a workshop with the created working groups
